The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) released its list of the 12 greenest vehicles of 2007.

The sexy Toyota PriusThe least dirty dozen are (in no particular order): Honda Civic GX, Toyota Prius, Honda Civic Hybrid, Nissan Altima Hybrid, Toyota Yaris, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry Hybrid, Honda Fit, Kia Rio5, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Elantra and Honda Civic. They are featured at CNET Networks Reviews so if you are in the market for a hybrid car that runs on both petrol and electricity, don’t hesitate to find out what CNET has to say about the cars.

As for myself, I’d always prefer Toyota Prius for several reasons. She is simply gorgeous and sexy… the kind of car that would always make my head turn just like a beautiful girl would. More than that, Toyota is the leader in the green car technology and Prius had matured from a prototype model to a production model that should give a lot of confidence to prospective owners.

….the Prius continues to be a hit thanks to its sophisticated parallel hybrid power system and excellent gas mileage. The Prius is rated as an advanced technology partial zero emissions vehicle (AT-PZEV), thanks to its ability to run on either its 500-volt battery pack or its 1.5-liter gasoline engine. If you drive carefully in the city, the EPA reckons you can squeeze 60mpg out of it.

As an AJAX lover, I am more than happy to see an AJAX web creation tool online. Weebly is just that, an easy tool with a drag and drop interface for personal and professional websites.

weebly1.png

You can simply create a site, add pages, then drag and drop its elements (like title text pictures, videos, maps, ads and more) anywhere on the page. When you are satisfied with your design, preview it, set the properties of the page and publish it live. Different themes are also available and can be interchangeable on the fly.

Weebly hosts your sites as subdomains e.g. http://myexamplesite.weebly.com. For those wanting to host the files on another server and domain of their choice, there is an option to zip the files for easy transfer.

Weebly is compatible with Internet Explorer 5.5+/7 and Firefox 1.5+/2.0 on Windows, Firefox 1.5+/2.0 on Linux and Firefox 1.5+/2.0 on Mac OS X.

It is currently in Beta and is accepting sign ups for testing. This is a great tool for spending minimal time on site design to concentrate on what is really important - content.

Don’t waste your time searching dozens of vendor websites every month for the driver updates you need. RadarSync has compiled a FREE page list of the latest Windows Vista drivers for your cards and peripherals e.g. ATI, DELL, RealTek, Logitech, Creative and more. The site provides direct links to the files and is updated periodically.

zyb.gifZYB is a free online service that allows you to backup all your mobile data, contacts and calendar easily through your cell phone and pda.

Synchronization (between cell phone and the service) can be done periodically, chosen at anytime during the day and at any frequency. Whenever you sync, a copy of your data is stored securely on their server. If you delete some data by mistake, that data is easily restored by using restore points from ZYB to retrieve what’s lost. A new restore point is created just before each sync.

At the 2007 3GSM World Congress, they launched an extra feature that added SMS storage as well. The SMS backup service is the first of its kind as it combines with the users own contact list and works for all mobiles - regardless of operators. Apart from the standard SMS rate charged by operators, backing up your SMS will initially be free.

This is an invaluable service for your mobile gadget that will decrease the dependence on SIM card storage, allow easy transfer of data between mobile gadgets and ease your fears of losing your important data.

mmc1.gifIn the wake of Hitachi’s announcement of creating the world’s smallest and thinnest RFID tag, Malaysia’s FEC International (a company owned and backed by the Malaysian Government) announced its own RFID achievement yesterday.

They have launched the MM Chip, The World’s Smallest multi band Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) microchip with in-built antennas. Manufactured at an estimated US$50 Million, it was developed under the 2 year old ‘Malaysia Microchip Project’.

The RFID tag is not as small as Hitachi’s latest chip but has the functionality of running at 4 multi band frequencies making it viable internationally. While Hitachi’s chip is expected to launch in 2 years, the MM chip is readily available for commercialization now.
