It seems as if everyone wants a MP3 player these day, even small children. However, due to the fragile nature of most DAPs, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend buying your 3-year-old an iPod for his next birthday. I’m just happy to see that Creative and Playskool have not overlooked an area that could be capitalized upon (or is Creative still mad about the whole we-don’t-have-the-market-share-the-iPod-does thing? Maybe…).

Made for Me MP3 player from Playskool and Creative

For the doting parent, here’s the perfect gift for your gadget-addicted toddler, the Made for Me line of MP3 players. Soft, cuddly, and preloaded with 50 songs, these are sure to be a hit with the kiddies come this fall.

This fall? You mean just in time for the Christmas shopping season? Isn’t that ironic?

The players will reportedly retail for around $80, so I’m still not quite sure that I’d drop this thing into the hands of a toddler. We all know how destructive they can be, chewing and tossing toys around. I can foresee hours of adult supervision while the kids are banging this fuzzy little MP3 player around. So much for giving them a toy to keep them occupied. Oh well, such is life.
