The Apple iPhone has some decent competition from LG. Announcements a few months ago emerged of an LG cell phone that would give the iPhone a run for it’s money. Originally called the KE850, LG has partnered with Prada to package the product a little more stylish.

Where does that leave you? With a $750+ price tag and availability in UK, France and a few other European countries. So how does it fair with Apple’s iPhone, which will only be available later this year, as opposed to the Prada release of later this month.
We haven’t had a demonstration of LG Prada’s UI which would need to surpass the iPhone’s fantastically smooth and simple use of big, bright icons and swishy scrolling. However, looking at these pictures the Prada tag might not be helping the style attraction.
Also in dispute is the memory differences. Apple has done well with the music-player function and 4-8GB memory, whereas LG hasn’t disclosed it’s onboard memory, but will have a microSD card slot.
Otherwise we’re looking at very similar devices both featuring Edge and Bluetooth wireless data technology, a 2-megapixel camera, Internet access to check e-mail, music and video playing ability and a sleek touch-screen look. Only time will tell if LG have a real contender or just an iPhone lookalike.
Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore will be able to get theirs late March 2007 and the Korean version is scheduled for launch in the second quarter of 2007. There is no announcement of a US release at all. Are they maybe not even trying to compete with Apple?
