The Japanese company, KDDI, has come up with a breathalyzer attachment for mobiles phones, targeted to cab and bus companies. It’s a good idea to target businesses but I see great potential in the consumer market for something that makes sure you drive legal.

What happens is before the driver can begin his or her trip, they must use the device and make sure they are under the limit. This verification is then sent to a computer at ‘headquarters’, with a snapshot of the driver to ensure no foul play, plus GPS can tell the boss their location also.

Japan had over 14,000 drink driving accidents last year so the Alc-Mobile isn’t such a bad idea.
