The first recorded security flaw in Windows’ new OS, Vista, was discovered and reported on a Russian website recently. No attack was made.

“The bottom line is you couldn’t use a vulnerability like this to write a worm or hack a Vista system remotely,” Mikko Hypponen, chief research officer for Finnish security research company F-Secure Corp. said. “It only has historical significance in that it’s the first reported vulnerability that also affects Vista. It’s a nonevent in other ways.”
The flaw, which may allow a hacker access, should be easily fixed with a software patch next week. Microsoft is still touting Vista as the most secure operating system to date.
